The Burlap Barn is a small, family-owned business tucked away in the Texas Panhandle. Founded by Austin and Sidney Abbott—lifelong agriculture lovers with deep farming roots—this venture grew from a shared desire to bring honest, down-to-earth care to pets everywhere.

With Austin’s background in farming and the hay industry, and Sidney’s experience in the cattle and ag world, the seed was planted. Add in the creative eye (and many cups of coffee) from Laura Meier—a teacher with a creative streak and a heart for meaningful work—and The Burlap Barn came to life.

Together, we set out to build something simple and good: small-batch, family-farm-packed pet products made with the kind of care we’d want for our own animals.

We started with a humble goal—to make clean, high-quality hay more accessible for small pets, and easier for the humans who love them. Each box we pack is rooted in comfort, connection, and a whole lot of heart.

At the end of the day, we’re just a Texas family who loves animals, believes in slow living, and thinks nibbles & nesting should always come with a touch of cozy.
